The Global Peace Index ranks a total of 163 countries. The creators use 23 indicators to determine and compare the safety of the countries. International conflicts and militarisation are included in the index, as are the number of homicides and political instability.
It's essential to notice that most of the 25 safest countries were in Europe before the Ukrainian conflict, followed by Asian states. Interestingly, all the Nordic countries, such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Finland, are included in the top safest category.
